>> A Working Solution for Aristoc
Aristoc are manufacturers of ladies hosiery. They implemented a MRP system based on the MTMS product provided by Evolution. The method of production is a complex operation and the success of the MRP is dependent on the accurate collection of information at the various stages of the operation. George James had a long association with Evolution and was approached by them to help in the collection of the information. The MRP system was based on a RS6000 computer using an Oracle database for the recording of the data.

The main requirement of the system was to validate data to ensure that the information relating to the batches of products, such as number items in a batch, was recorded at each stage of the process.

The George James Solution
George James decided to use Intermec T2480 fixed terminals to collect their data.
The Integrator was chosen as the middleware software package to ensure secure message transfer between terminal and back end server. Although the information was validated interactively, a requirement of the system was that the data was to be updated in batch mode thus allowing users to further validate the information and thus ensure integrity of the database.

Aristoc needed a way of tracking current stock i.e. stock taking, in their warehouse. As a current supply they contacted George James for advice. We recommended that they use a batch terminal for their application as real time was not a requirement. The unit that best suited their needs was the Opticon 2700.
