The George James Solution
Using Intermec T2480 terminals the time and attendance data or job information was collected from the shop floor. Utilising George James' Integrator Software the terminals pass the information through to the VAX and the system was updated in batch mode.

In 2002 Inflite took a decision to move from the VAX Alpha to an IBM RS6000. The data collection terminals did not need to be changed so emphasizing the independence of the data collection terminals from the system. In fact in this instance the information collected from the terminals was enhanced but did not involve a change to the interface experienced by the shop floor users, thus ensuring that no re-training was required.
