George James Business Systems as a systems integrator, are specialists in Manufacturing Systems Integration. We have successfully completed many system integration projects. Below is a description of systems integration, and its benefits.
Systems Integration refers to the inclusion of
apparently disparate pieces of equipment into a cohesive system. Users need
not worry themselves about whether a piece of kit, for example a terminal,
is compatible with their current equipment but rather they can concentrate
on purchasing the right equipment for the operation.
George James Business Systems has
a product called The Integrator. The Integrator
operates on a wide range of platforms from hand held terminals to mainframes.
The product is written in Ansi C and thus can be run on any computer that
has a C compiler.
In simple terms The Integrator
is a message routing piece of software that guarantees the delivery of a packet
of data. The packet of data will eventually arrive at its destination be handled
by another piece of software which we name the Data Control Program (DCP).
The DCP has the responsibility of formatting the data so that it can be used
to update the main system.
The DCP also has the responsibility
of handling the interactive validation. In these cases the DCP accepts the
message from the terminal, formats into an SQL statement, queries the database,
retrieves the information, formats the data retrieved or a suitable reply
and then sends the results back to the terminal.
This flexibility allows the user
to choose a piece of equipment or system that meet their needs rather than
worry about compatibility. . This was exemplified when Inflite moved from
the Vax Alpha to the IBM RS6000, all that was required was for the DCP to
be re-compiled to run on the IBM and for the terminals to be redirected to
the send their information to the IBM.
